I’m Joelle, a trans girl from a small town in New York who moved to New Mexico in 2022. Since then, I’ve been working to establish myself in the community in various ways. I love helping others and tend to put myself last, which is why it’s taken so long to become consistent with my creative work. This blog is meant to motivate me to keep writing and sharing what I create. I hope you like it and consider your relationship with your own creativity alongside me.
I am creating a self hosted WordPress blog because I have become exhausted with corporate social media. I spent years building a following on Instagram. Every time I would post words instead of selfies, my engagement plummeted. On Substack, I was competing with video and trapped in an algorithm where gaming the system took too much time and energy. Here, I can write what I want when I want. I can post and walk away, returning when the spark hits. I don’t need to engagement farm or play games. It’s pure word stuff poured onto the internet, and that’s the way I like it.
